It is important to remember that letting professionals handle the exterior and interior cleaning details of your car is often a better, more long-term investment. Some people may think of waxing their car as an extra step after washing your car to provide a little extra shine. Waxing is not just a cosmetic benefit. It helps protect the clear coat and preserves the colors within the paint that help prevent fading. Here are a few reasons to bring your car to Sunset North Car Wash for a hand wax:

  1. Protection from the sun

When you spend the day out in the sun, you put on sunscreen to protect your skin from sun damage. Treating your car with a regular wax treatment provides similar protection. The thin protective coat of wax left on your car’s paint forms a barrier that keeps the sun’s ultraviolet rays from harming it. When you maintain regular wax coating on your car’s paint it prevents fading, oxidation, and discoloring which is damage commonly caused by the suns rays.

  1. Protects your car against scratches

Whether you own or lease your vehicle. Scratches, dents, dings, and other types of wear and tear happen. Waxing cannot prevent these accidents but it can do a better job of protecting your vehicle than the paint barrier alone. A clear wax coat will seal in the paint and provide a shield against normal daily mishaps.

  1. Take better care of your car to become a better driver

Research suggests when you drive a clean car you’re more likely to be a safer driver. This theory could make sense. If you keep your car clean you’re more likely to take care of your car’s internal car maintenance that keeps your car running well. Maintaining pride in your car’s exterior and interior appearance you might be more likely to change your fluids on time, per the manufacturer’s recommendations.

  1. Give your car a high gloss finish

Adding a coat of wax will give your car a mirror-like finish and make it shine. This is referred to as a “showroom shine”. Wax on a molecular level polishes the clear coat which adds pop to the car’s color and really makes it shine.

  1. Thanks to modern wax formulas, it is easy to apply a good even coat

Waxing your car is no longer an all-day event. In fact, due to modern wax formulas, you can apply a durable wax coating rapidly. Depending on your car use, you may only need to wax your vehicle 3-5 times a year.

  1. Wax helps avoid water spots

Have you noticed after a sprinkle or good rain, your car is left covered in water spots? When it rains, water collects on your car’s paint. As it evaporates, dirt and contaminants that were in the water are left behind. With a coat of wax on your car, water will “bead up” and roll off your car. This results in less water remaining on your car’s paint and less water means less contaminates and dirt left behind.

Such a detailed and well-researched post about why car wax is important for the exterior of the car. I would like to add here that wax and polish is different. Polish is supposed to recover car paint’s look and fix all defects on the paint surface. Remember that you can’t polish your car after 3-4 months like you wax your car. Polish lasts longer for year or more.

A really good point, Jasmine. And now everyone is re-learning auto detailing techniques since the introduction of “ceramic-based” finish treatments.
